By John Schell
Race 1 - 12:29PM O’BRIEN PLUMBING & RELINING BENCHMARK 74 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
1. Slippin’ Jimmy is a winner of four of his eight starts and he comes into this on the back of a strong last start win at Grafton. He’s got the form on the board to win this.
Dangers: 2. Debussy has won four and been placed in a further six of 26 starts and he was midfield in stronger grade than this when last produced. 4. Change The Date won three on end at Taree and Grafton before a last start fifth at Grafton when last produced. He has the talent to give this a shake.
How to play it: Slippin’ Jimmy WIN.
Race 2 - 1:04PM TOORMINA HOTEL COUNTRY BOOSTED MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE (1400 METRES)
13. Ta Set Neferu was having her fifth start in a race when finishing second at Wyong at her latest run. She looks to have her share of ability and is worth plenty of though again in this.
Dangers: 2. Hezanuff has performed well in all four of his starts and only needs to run up to those efforts in order to be a leading contender here. 1. Friskee Frog has been placed in each of his latest two starts and is worth plenty of thought again here.
How to play it: Ta Set Neferu WIN.
Race 3 - 1:39PM CETNAJ COUNTRY MAGIC MERV MERCER SHOWCASE MILE - CLASS 2 HCP (1600 METRES)
5. Mosgiel Daisy hit the line well to score at Taree two starts ago, then followed that up with a last start fifth when not beaten far at the same track. She looks set to measure up in this.
Dangers: 2. Nickelback ran well at Grafton two starts ago, then was midfield at Lismore when last produced. He’s talented at best and is not out of this. 6. Credit Controller won well at Lismore three starts ago and she wasn’t beaten far at huge odds at Grafton at her latest start.
How to play it: Mosgiel Daisy WIN.
Race 4 - 2:14PM COFFS ASPHALT SUPER MAIDEN SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
1. Cerons ran second in the Maribyrnong Trial on debut in what was a solid effort. He backed that up with a sixth in the Skyline and returns a bit more seasoned in this. He can break his maiden here.
Dangers: 14. Unite The Stars has had two trials, including a win in the latest of them, leading into this debut. She looks hard to hold out here. 6. Sirius Flyer has finished second in two of her four starts and is well worth including among the main chances.
How to play it: Cerons WIN.
Race 5 - 2:49PM DRISCOLL’S AUSTRALIA KEN HOWARD SHOWCASE CUP (2000 METRES)
2. Jack Duggan won well at Newcastle back in February and then resumed with a close-up fifth at Newcastle before being close-up again at Canterbury last time out. This looks a perfect race.
Dangers: 1. Full Press won well at Grafton two starts ago and backed that up with a 10-length defeat in the Grafton Cup. This looks much easier. 3. Aimpoint hit the line well to score a win at Dubbo two starts ago then failed to fire at Canterbury. This is easier and he looks hard to beat.
How to play it: Jack Duggan WIN.
Race 6 - 3:24PM ROB YOUNG MEMORIAL CLASS 3 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
14. Cardsharp scored a good win at Grafton when last produced. He’s got a good record and only needs to run up to his best in order to be rated a leading contender here.
Dangers: 11. Boambee Beach has two wins and another seven placings from 16 starts. She was placed at Grafton last time out and this looks a suitable assignment. 2. Swift Charm had been racing well with Highway placings before following a fourth at Grafton and a third here with a down the track Grafton effort when far from disgraced.
How to play it: Cardsharp EACH WAY.
Race 7 - 4:04PM MOONEE BEACH HOTEL *BIG DANCE ELIGIBILITY * COFFS HARBOUR CUP (1600 METRES)
6. Ha Ha Ha hit the line full of running to score a dominant victory at Randwick two starts ago. She followed that up with a disappointing effort last weekend but has the ability to improve sharply into this.
Dangers: 3. King Of The Castle had been racing well before a last start eighth in good grade at Rosehill. This looks a nice race for him. 5. Bethencourt has been around for a while and has been maintaining his form well. He won at Gosford in April and has the talent to give this a shake.
How to play it: Ha Ha Ha WIN.
Race 8 - 4:44PM FM GLENN CONSTRUCTIONS DANIEL BAKER SHOWCASE SPRINT (1200 METRES)
14. Zouperb has a great record with five wins from 16 starts. She’s won her last three on end at Gatton, Beaudesert and on the Gold Coast Polytrack.
Dangers: 2. Fender is the class runner of the race. He failed to fire in the Ramornie when last produced but on his best form he is the one to beat here. 4. Oakfield Duke was a winner on the Kensington track before finishing third at Canterbury. He since won again at Canterbury before a last start midfield effort at Rosehill. This looks a suitable race.
How to play it: Zouperb WIN.
Best Bets: Race 4 (1) Cerons; Race 5 (2) Jack Duggan.
Best Value: Race 6 (14) Cardsharp.
