Three things I love: West Coast Fever defender Sunday Aryang
By Sunday Aryang
Each week, WAtoday reaches out to the Perth community to find out three things people love the most about our coastal capital. This week, West Coast Fever defender Sunday Aryang is in the hot seat sharing her favourite parts of life in the west, having called Perth home for 22 years.
The outdoor lifestyle in Perth offers endless opportunities for exploring. From the beautiful coastline to the lush greenery of its parks and reserves, Perth is a paradise for outdoor lovers.
Whether it’s venturing down south to explore the stunning beaches and landscapes, or discovering the hidden gems of the Swan Valley with its vineyards and scenic trails, there’s always an adventure waiting to be embraced. I love venturing out and looking for fun activities to participate in, which I find incredibly easy to come across because there are so many options available here.
Let’s not forget Kings Park, offering panoramic views of the city skyline and the tranquil waters of the Swan River, making it the perfect spot for a picnic or a peaceful stroll.
I would say Perth has some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, making live sporting events an exciting experience.
Whether it’s catching an AFL game at Optus Stadium, cheering on the Perth Wildcats, witnessing the thrilling action of the tennis, or, of course a West Coast Fever home game at RAC Arena in front of our proud and passionate Green Army, the electric atmosphere, enthusiastic crowds, and often packed stadiums or venues boosts the enjoyment of attending games.
Going to these events is always exciting, with an amazing vibe where everyone is having a great time – unless the team is losing. But sports culture runs deep in Perth, with locals proudly supporting their teams and embracing the camaraderie that comes with being part of a passionate fan base.
While I’m not particularly fond of beaches myself, I can’t deny that Perth is home to some of the world’s most stunning coastlines.
With its white sands, clear waters, and coastal cliffs, Perth’s beaches are a haven for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts alike. Whether it’s the iconic Cottesloe Beach with its cool atmosphere and stunning sunsets, or the secluded shores of Rottnest Island, there’s a beach for every mood and occasion.
And with Perth’s consistently pleasant weather, a day at the beach is always a refreshing escape, offering the perfect opportunity to unwind, recharge, and soak up the natural beauty of Western Australia’s coastline.
